THEOplayer natively supports the three major DRM systems: Widevine (common on Android and web browsers), PlayReady (used on Windows and Xbox), and FairPlay (used by Apple devices). DRM encryption makes it exceptionally difficult to capture the video directly. THEOplayer is designed to serve encrypted, fragmented, token-authenticated chunks. The only “link” is a temporary manifest. Downloading requires specialized tools, replication of session headers, and – in most commercial cases – breaking DRM, which is legally and technically non-trivial.
