La Oreja de Van Gogh se formó en 1996 en San Sebastián, País Vasco, España. Su primer álbum, (1997), no pasó desapercibido, pero fue con su segundo disco, "El Arte de Mesmerizar" (1998), que empezaron a ganar popularidad en España.

Tras la salida de Amaia, el grupo incorporó a Leire Martínez como nueva vocalista. Esta etapa demostró la madurez compositiva del resto de la banda (Xabi, Pablo, Álvaro y Haritz) y la capacidad de adaptación de Leire. A las cinco en el Astoria (2008)
